Hamilton's only elite female-focused football organization

ABOUT STEEL CITY SKY TIGERS

The Steel City Sky Tigers are proud to be Hamilton's only elite female-focused flag football organization, offering young female athletes the opportunity to thrive in a program tailored specifically for them.

We believe that girls deserve a space uniquely their own; a place where they can develop their skills, build confidence, and excel in a community-driven environment designed to support their growth. Our program fosters not only athletic excellence but also friendships among players and meaningful connections within the broader community.

Our organization is the only flag football organization in Southern Ontario that is both directed and coached by a primarily female staff to ensure that every decision is made for the betterment of girls' football programming.

Led by dedicated mentors who are passionate about advancing girls' and women's sports, our not-for-profit organization prioritizes collaboration, skill development, and empowerment. Through partnerships with organizations like McMaster University's women's flag football team, we provide valuable mentorship opportunities and clear pathways for female athletes to succeed both on and off the field. At the Steel City Sky Tigers, we’re not just building teams, we’re creating a vibrant, supportive community for girls to thrive.

What is female-focused programming ?

Coaching : Expert coaches are carefully selected, ensuring that athletes are developing their skills and seeing measurable growth. Our coaching staff is experienced in working with young female athletes and understands best practices to build a safe and supportive learning environment for everyone.

Scheduling : Female athletes historically drop sports in more frequently than boys in high school due to the demands of a busy schedule. Our program works with athletes and their families to help accommodate each athlete's schedule through flexible scheduling, reflective pricing, and purposeful practice-planning.

Mentorship : Our organization partners with some of the most incredible female flag football athletes and coaches in the city in order to not only show our players the athletic potential and the pathways available to them, but also to highlight the many female coaches in our community, hoping to inspire our athletes to one day give back in a similar fashion.

Join us in shaping the future of girls' flag football in Hamilton and beyond!

Our practices are held in gyms and outdoor parks in West Hamilton, where we focus on skill development and playbook execution. We are fortunate to have guest coaches from the McMaster team who mentor our players, providing insights and guidance. We strive to create an environment that is both fun and purposeful, ensuring that every practice is an engaging and meaningful experience for the team.

Our practices are scheduled to accommodate multi-sport athletes so that girls don't need to choose between sports they're passionate about. We are looking to add additional practice locations this year to accommodate more families across Hamilton.
